How to use the chat feature

Appropriate Uses

  • Scheduling & Logistics: Coordinate or reschedule sessions; share basic calendar conflicts.

  • Quick Updates: Send brief, non-urgent notes on behavior, mood changes, or minor incidents.

  • Resource Sharing: Request or receive recommended articles, guides, toy suggestions, or handouts.

Inappropriate Uses

  • Emergencies or Crises: If anyone’s in immediate danger or distress, call your local emergency number or go to the nearest emergency department. For urgent mental-health crises, use crisis hotlines or local support services—do not rely on chat.

  • Deep Counseling Discussions: Complex or sensitive issues belong in scheduled sessions, not chat.

  • Long or Frequent Threads: Avoid extended back-and-forth; book more time if needed.

  • Disrespectful Language: Keep it professional and focused—no harassment or abuse.

Guidelines & Boundaries

  • Response Time: Specialists may not reply immediately, especially during sessions or outside business hours.

  • Privacy: Don’t share highly sensitive personal or medical details here.

  • Communication Policy: Respect each specialist’s availability and preferred hours.
